META records the marks, keys, symbols, and working forms that help the Ledger read itself. These are not field entries in the ordinary sense. They are the signs placed beside the record when a page needs additional accounting.

A mark should not decorate the page. It should change how the page is read. When used carefully, it points toward older debt, missing voices, inherited authority, moral accounting, frontier appetite, and the question of who is allowed to speak for land, memory, history, or consequence.
